are camping tents allowed in new york city beaches?

I bought a camping tent, the zip up kind and I was just wonderin can I put it up and chill in it while I’m at the beach or at a park like central park??

Can I just ask why you’d go to the beach and put up a tent? Seems like that kinda defeats the purpose of why you go to the beach.

One of the rules at Coney Island and Brighton Beach is erecting (the city’s word) tents or shelters is prohibited. I’m sure it would be similar at the other beaches.

This is a list of other things you can’t do at Coney Island or Brighton Beach.

    A tent in Central Park… HA !!

You MIGHT survive overnight if you sleep in a Sherman Tank parked dead center of a surrounding 85 man U.S. Marine Corps Force-Recon Platoon of "crack" sharp-shooters loaded with full metal jacket ammo and a back-up squad of 105′s mounted on several Am-tracks.

Please… I don’t mean to be so hard on New York. It’s just I was born in Philadelphia and had many fights with "punks" from NYC up and down the New Jersey shoreline EVERY summer !!

If you should ignore my words and pop-up your little Sears tent in Central Park, I only bet $2.00 you make CNN 3 minutes after sunset.

(Don’t listen to me… Call New York city police and follow their instructions to the letter).

    I’m just a "used-to-be" front-line-combat Platoon Sergeant having fun.

I’ve seen people put up sun protective tents on the beach (made of net) But yours seems to be a different deal, I would just go to a designated camping ground. Why would you buy a tent without a need for it?
