… as the probably apocryphal Stratford camping shop is supposed to have once proclaimed. Anyway, I feel I must apologise to GrumpyCoyoteTunes for this one, and indeed probably to everyone else as well, because this is, by my calculations, my June entry for the Bring the Song challenge, and, contrary to my usual custom, I appear to be putting it up in June. I can offer no explanation for this inexcusable lapse into efficiency, and can only promise that it won’t happen again.

While Hamlet was preparing to watch the play (A, F#m)
With which he’d catch the conscience of the king, (A, F#m)
He was nervous, wondering if his scheme was really going to work, (A, F#m)
But he was also bothered by just one more thing; (A, F#m)
The queue for the Gents’ was somewhat lengthy, (D, E7)
If he went now he might miss curtain up, (D, E7)
But on the other hand, he was busting for a . (D, E7)
He was quite unable to make his mind up. (D, E7)

To pee, or not to pee, that is the question. (A, F#m)
To pee or not to pee, that is the question. (A, F#m)

Hamlet was preparing to go camping with his friends
(We all know that he could be a but in-tents).
Some guy roped him into it, and he was stuck with all the planning,
‘Cos Rozenkrantz and Guildenstern were dense.
He was unsure what sort of tent to pack
To accommodate them on their little trip.
He was unsure, having canvassed some opinion,
If the Amerinidian sort was out of fashion, or quite hip.

Teepee or not teepee, that is the question.
Teepee or not teepee, that is the question.

Macbeth, when he got lost while rallying from Paris, (D, A)
Wondered “Is this Dakar that I see before me?” (D, A)
Portia, finding leaves in eucalyptus tea in Liverpool, (D, A)
Found one thing that was not strained was the koala tea of Mersey. (B7, E)

Meanwhile, Hamlet, going travelling in the tropics,
Needed something to protect his balding pate
From the sun’s most glaring rays, though not at noontide;
Mad princes aren’t mad dogs, Great Dane though he was, some might state.
A straw poll found support for a Panama,
But he liked Laertes idea to get something somewhat more stiff,
Something more rigid, more like a helmet, but he worried;
Laertes had a habit of taking the pith

Topee or not topee, hat is the question.
Topee or not topee, hat is the question.

Tabby or not tabby, cat is the question.

Tubby or not tubby, fat is the question.

(In case anyone’s wondering about verse 3, a sola topee is another term for the hat more usually known as a pith helmet. A slightly obscure joke, I’ll concede, but it made me laugh, so I’m inflicting it on the rest of you).

I have been shopping for an approximately 10×10 camping tent for car camping (not backpacking). I have looked online at REI, Campmor, EMS, Sierra Trading… and in the store at Walmart and Dick’s Sporting goods. I’ve compared features so I know what’s typically available. I’m trying to find out why there is such a huge variance in prices… what is the value of a $200 tent vs. an $80 one with nearly the same features. (is it the material?) I’m looking for other people’s advice and experiences!

Looking to buy a big enough tent for a family of 5. I don’t want to spend to much money because I am not sure if I will even like camping. So I will like to buy a store brand. I am not sure what kmarts brand is. Anyway out of the brands I listed above our any of them good?

I will give my two-cents worth. I have two, four-man (9′x7′) Ozark Trail tents from Wal-Mart. For a family camping trip, these work great, they are easy to set up, pretty good bang for the buck and over-all have been pretty good tents that have lasted several years and are still holding up. Would I climb Everest or go on an extended backpacking or climbing trip with them, absolutely NOT! I have a quality, one-man backpacking tent for my more serious backpacking trips that I bought from REI. As somebody else said, a tent for the kids and a tent for you guys is the way to go, it’s what I do. Two smaller tents are cheaper than one large tent and two small tents are easier to set up than one large tent. I tend to be very organized when I camp. My wife and kids scatter their “crap” all over the tent. Having two tents helps this a lot. The other plus to this is if something happens to one of the tents, it gets a tear, catches on fire, whatever, you have a back-up. Everybody has opinions based upon personal experience, and this is my personal experience. I hope your family develops a love of camping and the outdoors, it’s a fantastic family experience.

i was looking for a good backpacking tent that is not too expensive for example coleman avior x2 or vango banshee 200 and i was wondering were you can get backpacking tents really cheap
Look for a tent that is last year’s model. Best month to buy a tent would be in April. Don’t buy a tent online unless you know what it looks like in the store, have tried to assemble it and sat inside it, because when manufactures say 2 person they mean one and when they say 3 person they mean 2 etc. You also don’t want a tent that you all of sudden found out is a pain to put together, because when it’s starting to pour you don’t want to be trying to put together a tent that just won’t go. Hope that helps
