Recommendation for good sun guard at beach?
Author: admin
I want to bring my baby to the beach next summer and am looking into something that I can put her in to protect her from the sun. I’m told those little tents are very flimsy and blow away very easily. I’m not one to usually carry an umbrella to the beach (unless I have to). I wanted to buy something now since a lot of places are having end-of-season sales. Anyone have a recommendation for something small and not too heavy to carry? Thanks!
They sell baby beach chairs with an awning built right over it. Also check out a website called babybanz.com. They have baby sunglasses that come with a strap that hold the sunglasses on baby’s head. My daughter is four months old and she leaves them on with no problem. It’s important to protect their little eyes from uv rays, too. Good luck. P.S. Plus the sunglasses just look really cute!!! And all depending on how old the baby is do not use sunblock till she’s six months old, pediatricians say it’s dangerous.

BF and i going camping for our anniversary. We’ve decided on Lake Tahoe, but are unsure of what campground is the best with good lake views and a quick walk to the shore. We will be tent camping. And also if you can give rates if you’ve been to the campground b4, that would be really awesome. THANKS!
Best view is emerald bay, 2nd is DL Bliss and followed closely by camp richardson.
All around choice I would pick DL Bliss. I watched 4th of Jul;y fireworks from there and saw them all around the lake. Your also closer to emerald bay for some great hikes around the point.
Camp Richardson is close to town and the casino’s so it is more of a party campground but it does have some great view’s and nice beaches.
Reservations are a must and go quickly
Good luck!
Inexpensive small tents – Winnipeg, MB?
Author: admin
Looking for decent prices on tents in the Winnipeg area -
* Doesn’t need to be uber-backpacker gear, just sturdy enough to last at least this year
* small-ish; 2-person + backpacks
* domes or D-shaped, for example
* bonus points for downtown or heading out the south-east side of the city
If you haven’t seen any specific prices this week, I’d still appreciate any tips on which stores might have a decent tent on sale.
(I’d dig around on store sites, but I ought to be working right now!) Thanks in advance
Thanks much, everyone! Ended up spotting a little 2-person dome at Canadian Tire (Regent) at the last minute for $30 – if you were still looking, there were a few on the shelf.
I was in Superstore a few days ago. They had two-person tents for around 50.00 and it was a decent name brand too.
Not sure how cheap you are wanting to go but my husband and I are considering going back to get one!
Good luck on your search!
I’m not even sure it has all it’s poles. It’s an older model / I’d say somewhere in the late 70′s-80′s models.
I can’t seem to find any info online anywhere.
I think you may be struggling there!
Good quality tents usually have seasons like designer handbags…
Each year there are advancements in technology and science which some broght boffin figures out how to incorporate into a tent in order to make it more weatherproof or lighter or more durable etc.
This is great from an outdoors perspective because the advancements can only increase the simplicity of the outdoor experience.
The downside however is that if you want parts for a 20 – 30 year old tent, there have been that many changes in the designs over the years that it can be dam near impossible to get parts and things.
Id recomment trying to join a camping forum or an outdoors forum and put up a post asking what you want to know.
With any luck you may find a guy who’s still got his old one gathering dust in the attic and he can let you know if anythings missing and maybe even photocopy the instructions for you.
Generally speaking though, tents arent that hard to put up.
Have you tried building it up yourself just using trial and error.
You will more than likely be able to work it out and you can just take notes for future reference if you needed to.
Good luck!
